What Epic announced
On October 21, 2026, Epic announced Connectors. A Connector links another app to Epic. It can bring data into Epic when people need it. Epic’s own example is arrival time from an ambulance app, so the emergency department can prepare.
Connectors can also let Epic’s AI agents complete tasks in other apps. They work with Emmie, Art and Penny. They also work with custom AI that health systems build in Agent Factory.
Health systems can find Connectors on Epic Showroom from March 2027. Fierce Healthcare reports that Epic will use the Model Context Protocol (MCP) as the first standard, and that Epic wants Connectors to be open and standards-based.

Where VectorCare fits
Patient transport is a direct fit for VectorCare's patient logistics platform. Epic’s AI agents can also place requests in other apps. We are building VectorCare MCP for Epic so Art, Penny or your own Agent Factory agents can request a ride in VectorCare. A.D.I. (Automated Dispatching Intelligence) matches each ride to the right service level and the best available provider. Status and ETA then come back into Epic.
Not only Epic: see how we design the VectorCare MCP server for agents in other EHRs, care coordination products and care apps.

Your IT team stays in control
Before you turn on a Connector, your team can review what it can do, what it can read and what it can change. Your security, legal and compliance teams approve it. This supports scope review and least privilege. Permissions stay at the health system level.
