Original Medicare may cover ambulance transportation when it is medically necessary and transportation by another vehicle could endanger the patient’s health. Non-emergency ambulance transportation usually requires documentation, such as a physician certification. Medicare Advantage plans may offer broader supplemental transportation benefits, and Medicaid often covers NEMT for eligible members. VectorCare helps organizations coordinate, document, and route transportation workflows.
